About
Julie Morris is a Canadian-American writer based in Portland, OR. Her creative nonfiction has appeared in print and online, most recently in Buckman Journal.
Based on her experiences coming out later in life and raising a child with complex medical and developmental needs, Julie's writing focuses on topics such as compulsory heterosexuality, the weight of caregiving, and the resilience of queer families. She is a 2023 recipient of the Oregon Literary Fellowship.
She is currently working on a memoir about raising a child with a rare congenital brain disorder in a society that devalues disabled people and undervalues care work. In her "off" hours she is a silversmith, a roller skater, and a servant to three cats.
